Book Blurb from Goodreads:
Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes that the dead leave behind in the world... and the imprints that attach to their killers.

Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find the dead birds her cat had tired of playing with. But now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he's claimed haunt her daily, she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet on her quest to find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved to find herself hoping that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer... and becoming his prey herself.

This is the second time I read a Mystery novel where in there's a killer. Yeah sure I've read a Mystery novel but this book has also suspense in it. I actually didn't realize that I was holding my breath as I read it yesterday when I exhaled. At first when I grabbed this book, I didn't read it yet. After a long time, I decided to read it, curiosity got the better of me.

Book Blurb from Goodreads:

An ancient prophecy divides two sisters-
One good...

One evil...

Who will prevail?

Twin sisters Lia and Alice Milthorpe have just become orphans. They have also become enemies. As they discover their roles in a prophecy that has turned generations of sisters against each other, the girls find themselves entangled in a mystery that involves a tattoo-like mark, their parents' deaths, a boy, a book, and a lifetime of secrets.

Lia and Alice don't know whom they can trust.

They just know they can't trust each other.

Honestly, I don't know what to say about this review. I'm not that a fan of Mystery type of books where in I was always need to pay attention to the book I'm reading. And I had a hard time grasping the story of this book. But, as you could see I gave it a rating of 3.5.

Yes, I'm not a fan of mystery but somehow I kind of enjoyed it. A bit. It just makes me read and read and read to know what would happen to Lia and Alice and what is the prophecy all about. You see, as I've said, I had a hard time understanding the prophecy. I thought differently than the author. Maybe that's a good thing to others but for me, well, it leaves me confused. So I still continue reading to know more about it.

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.
Rosemarie Hathaway or simply Rose is a dhampir--a half-Moroi half-human-- trained to kill the Strigoi (the evil vampires walking on earth). She's the guardian of her long time bestfriend, Vasilisa Dragomir. Lissa is the last Dragomir in their Moroi world, a royal princess.

At the opening of the book they were running away from St. Vladimir Academy. They met Dimitri Belikov, the hot guardian who took them back to the academy. The story revolves around Rose and Lissa's bond. They are best friends but they are also more than that. You should read the book since I can't give you too many spoilers, right? Anyway, Rose and Lissa decided to stay in the Academy. Dimitri became Rose mentor, he teached her guardian stuffs. And yeah, he's the love interest of Rose *oh man, I spoiled it!*.

Twilight meets The Princess Diaries in the new series from the author of Honeymoon of the Dead

On her sixteenth birthday, Anastasija Parker learns that her so-called deadbeat dad is actually a vampire king. And he wants Ana to assume her rightful position at his side, in spite of the fact that she has witch's blood running through her veins-from her mother's side.

Too bad witches and vampires are mortal enemies. And now Ana's parents are at each other's throats over her future. It's up to Ana to make a choice, but deciding your eternal destiny is a pretty big deal for a girl who just wants to get through high school.
Almost to Die For by Tate Hallaway was in my to-read list for a long time. I started reading it for awhile like 4 pages then stops. Why? Nothing. I mean, it's not because of the book. Just something personal. Anyway, so I started reading it again and boy, I can't keep my hands off it. At the first chapter of this book, I understood that Anastasija Parker or simply Ana, is a witch. She said so, but there's some kind of complication to it, she can't do magic. The series was named "Vampire Princess of St. Paul", so I immediately said that "ah, she's a half-witch and half-vampire". But still, I want some confirmation even though Goodreads said that her dad is a Vampire King.

Book Giveaway by Soumi @Pages From My Thoughts

When I saw the book cover, I immediately click the link that would redirect me to the next page where it is located. I read the whole review and the blurb from Goodreads and I was like, "oh, it's like Delirium." Well, yeah. somehow it is like Delirium by Lauren Oliver, I said that just because there's also the disease thing. And I'm a sucker for dystopian type of novels. I really would want to have this book so that I could read and quench my thirst for this kind of book.

And hey, Soumi@Pages From My Thoughts is giving a giveaway. Click here if you want to join too! Good luck to us! :)

hello and welcome! :)

Okay. So I've been back to blogger! Hello to me and hello to all of you! :) I joined blogger way way way back, I think when I was in my first year college days. It's been so long since I already graduated this year. :D

So what am I doing here and writing this stuff (you reading it)? Well, I just want to share all the books I have read. I mean, reviews--well that is, if my writing skills permit me--about the books (mostly YA or Young Adult books) I have read. I would love to give you feedback on the said books, if it's any good or whatever.

And maybe some personal rant? Uh, well, maybe, maybe not since I do have my Tumblr, Facebook and Twitter account to do the ranting there. :D

Oh! I haven't introduced myself yet. Hi! I'm lexiechan but you could just call me Alex. A 21 year old Filipina and a book lover. Bibliophile. Bookworm. Whatever you want to name it. Nice to meet you! :)
