St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.
Rosemarie Hathaway or simply Rose is a dhampir--a half-Moroi half-human-- trained to kill the Strigoi (the evil vampires walking on earth). She's the guardian of her long time bestfriend, Vasilisa Dragomir. Lissa is the last Dragomir in their Moroi world, a royal princess.

At the opening of the book they were running away from St. Vladimir Academy. They met Dimitri Belikov, the hot guardian who took them back to the academy. The story revolves around Rose and Lissa's bond. They are best friends but they are also more than that. You should read the book since I can't give you too many spoilers, right? Anyway, Rose and Lissa decided to stay in the Academy. Dimitri became Rose mentor, he teached her guardian stuffs. And yeah, he's the love interest of Rose *oh man, I spoiled it!*.

The reason Rose and Lissa decided to escape St. Vladimir Academy in the first place starts to came back after 2weeks of getting back to the school. Well, they thought that it's just pure coincidence and all. Christian Ozera is a also a Royal Moroi but he was left out of the circle. Nobody talks to him, nobody talks about him and his family. He's like a taboo word for all. The Moroi and dhampir alike thought that one day Christian would be like his parents. So Christian is a snarky little jerk with everyone and almost have the same attitude as Rose. He also develops an interest with Lissa *spoiled again*. And oh, he's a fire user too.

The main problem is someone wants to use Lissa's powers to himself and lead the Moroi world. He wants to be crowned the next King after Queen Tatiana. He wanted to change the Moroi world if only he could have Lissa. He would do anything to get Lissa and her powers even if it means abusing her and kidnapping her.

I really love the book. When I first encounter this, it was just random. I mean when I was looking for something to read I came across this. I'm a huge fan of vampire novels and this Vampire Academy get me so hooked and addicted and wanting more of Rose-Dimitri and Lissa- Christian. I even can't put it down, I want to read the next page and the next and the next.

There would be a lot of questions in this review since I leave you hanging. Questions like "Who is that?" "What would happen to Lissa and Rose?" "What about the attraction between Rose and Dimitri? To Lissa and Christian?" "What is this powers of Lissa?" Well, one thing you need to do to find out. For those who haven't read it yet, Read the whole book! You will certainly not regret it.

Richelle Mead is a great author, a genius for thinking this two kinds of vampire. A Moroi and a Strigoi. And the Half Moroi and Half Human, Dhampirs. I really love Richelle Mead for this book! :3
