Book Blurb:
The Claiming Words is the first book in a new fantasy series for Young Adults and is scheduled for release by Iconic Publishing in Autumn 2012.
When Jace moves to Oaktree, he attracts the interest of everyone in school, but only one girl captures his attention, or maybe two. Alisa is an outcast, but when she saves Jace from a Hunter, she finds herself drawn into a world of friendship and magic. Rachel has always felt different from everyone she grew up with until an encounter with the new student illustrates how unique she is. As dangerous forces descend upon the small southern town, each girl shares a special connection with Jace. Only one will win his love.
The Claiming Words left me speechless. In all honesty, I was having doubts if I would like it but when I started reading it, I was sucked into the world of Demons, Hunters, Magic and Warriors. I was like, holy crap! I was grinning from ear to ear, I feel like an idiot smiling to myself. It is all worth it!

Book Blurb from Goodreads:
When thirty-year-old English teacher Anna Emerson is offered a job tutoring T.J. Callahan at his family's summer rental in the Maldives, she accepts without hesitation; a working vacation on a tropical island trumps the library any day. T.J. Callahan has no desire to leave town, not that anyone asked him. He's almost seventeen and if having cancer wasn't bad enough, now he has to spend his first summer in remission with his family - and a stack of overdue assignments - instead of his friends.
Anna and T.J. are en route to join T.J.'s family in the Maldives when the pilot of their seaplane suffers a fatal heart attack and crash-lands in the Indian Ocean. Adrift in shark-infested waters, their life jackets keep them afloat until they make it to the shore of an uninhabited island.
Now Anna and T.J. just want to survive and they must work together to obtain water, food, fire, and shelter. Their basic needs might be met but as the days turn to weeks, and then months, the castaways encounter plenty of other obstacles, including violent tropical storms, the many dangers lurking in the sea, and the possibility that T.J.'s cancer could return. As T.J. celebrates yet another birthday on the island, Anna begins to wonder if the biggest challenge of all might be living with a boy who is gradually becoming a man.

Oh boy. I was having doubts with this one when I decided to read it. It was because my reader played with me, I thought that I'm gonna read a 600 page book. But really it's just 300 something. I just read this in one day! Yay! I would finish it sooner if I didn't do anything other than read, but well, anyway...

Filipino Friday [1]

WOW! This is so cool! Just come across it in a fellow filipino blogger I've been stalking, er, following. And I want to join too since I'm a fellow Filipino and a book lover. :) This would be my first ever con, a Filipino Con. Excited much!

School of Reading. We all started reading somewhere, and more often than not, we were influenced by someone. Who got you into reading? Your parents? A friend? A librarian? One teacher who always lends out his/her books? How helpful was your school in helping your reading habit / fueling your book addiction?

I guess I started reading, I mean really read was back in 2004 or 2005. My younger brother was in the hospital getting a heart surgery. I was visiting and keeping him company, I was bored to death. My Aunt and cousin visited us, bringing a lot of Tagalog Pocketbooks and Britney Spears' book. So even though I really don't like reading AT ALL then AND they gave me tagalog pocketbooks, like the PHR ones, which I totally didn't like back then, I started reading. And guess what? I like it! I love it! I was hooked! So from then on, I collected pocketbooks, read Danielle Steel's books, some Harlequins. I even met PHR authors and became close friends with three of them namely, Sonia Francesca, Keene Alicante and Sofia.

And then I met TWILIGHT. I know! I'm one of those TwiHards back then! But well, now, I'm not. :P I branch out, I became addicted to Young Adult books, I craved for YA books. I still occasionally read Tagalog books, but if you'll ask me if I read Bob Ong's, the answer is NO, I have not. I didn't get it. I tried reading it. But I didn't get it. :(

My college library have lots of Fiction books, I really like going to library cause I like the smell of books. Yes, I smell the book, love the smell of the paper. :P I often borrow books there so yep, the library really helps my addiction. ;)

Honestly? I don't like reading when I was in school. Cause what they always say when we have a book reports, we have to choose classics. I don't like reading back then much less, Classics! And anyway, I already forgot the titles I have read for book reports. :P

But if I really must answer then... I say Mythology by Edith Hamilton.

Q: Christmas in July! Someone gives you a gift card for two books (whatever that costs). What two books will you buy?

This question is rather hard to answer since there are a lot of books I really want to have. And we only chooses TWO?! That's hard! Hmmm... Since I really like Stolen Nights by Rebecca Maizel, I'll go for that one.

The second book (Is it really just two? :P) would be Origins by Jessa L. Gilbert. I'm actually planning to buy that one. Is it valid? LOL. If not, I'll choose Onyx by Jennifer Armentrout. ;)

What about you, fellow book lovers? I wish we could do at least ten books. :P Let me know if you're a New Follower so I could follow you back. :)

Feature & Follow Friday is blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The two blogs they are featuring this week are: Vivaciously, Vivian and a GREAT read.

Q: What drove you to start book blogging in the first place?

Hmmm... I started book blogging because I wanted other people to know that it's fun to read. I wanted them to enjoy it as much as I enjoyed reading. I wanted to influence them read what I read. Um, does that make any sense? LOL. Anyhow, since I enjoyed reading, might as well start a blog and so people could see what other great books we have in this world. (I sound like I'm wishing for world peace. >_<) I also like knowing that people read what my thoughts were about books I have read. :)

So, there. How about you guys? :) Let me know if you've followed me so I could follow you back. Thanks! <3

Book Review: Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn't Have) by Sarah Mlynowski

Title: Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn't Have)
Author: Sarah Mlynowski
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Realistic, Romance, Chick Lit, Teens
Release Date: June 7th, 2011 (Kindle Edition)
Rating:(3.5)
Book Blurb from Goodreads:
2 girls + 3 guys + 1 house – parents = 10 things April and her friends did that they (definitely, maybe, probably) shouldn't have.
If given the opportunity, what sixteen-year-old wouldn't jump at the chance to move in with a friend and live parent-free? Although maybe "opportunity" isn't the right word, since April had to tell her dad a tiny little untruth to make it happen (see #1: "Lied to Our Parents"). But she and her housemate Vi are totally responsible and able to take care of themselves. How they ended up "Skipping School" (#3), "Throwing a Crazy Party" (#8), "Buying a Hot Tub" (#4), and, um, "Harboring a Fugitive" (#7) at all is kind of a mystery to them.
In this hilarious and bittersweet tale, Sarah Mlynowski mines the heart and mind of a girl on her own for the first time. To get through the year, April will have to juggle a love triangle, learn to do her own laundry, and accept that her carefully constructed world just might be falling apart . . . one thing-she-shouldn't-have-done at a time.
Um. Just finished it today... And well... I can't say that it's not what I didn't expect but... I just didn't know (okay, so I'm sure of it) that it'll be about... sex.

Red pain, Red desire, Red need, Red hunger…

I have been plagued by the same dream for months now. A nightmare filled with red, dripping with death, where I am the hunter. There is no escape, no end in sight…. The nightmare has become a reality and I am forced with a choice – I can become one with the darkness that lives within that is clamoring, clawing to escape, or I can bury the demon, and the nightmares, once and for all.

It may seem like an easy choice, but not when I also have to choose between the father who has raised me or a mother whom I have thought was dead. Not when the choice is my humanity or Immortality….

Aided by a dark mysterious stranger, a hidden world is opened up to Adelin - a world full of bloodlust and death - the Black world of Immortals. Torn between the two, she faces the hardest decision she's ever had to make. Will she choose the safe, familiar life she has always known? Or will she let the darkness consume her?
In all honesty, I don't know how to begin reviewing this book. I'm speechless. As of now, you all know I'm a very big fan of Young Adult Paranormal book. So you must know that I also want to read something that's not the same as the other book I've read.

Origins gave me that difference from a book. It's not a vampire story, like the books I've read. It also not the same in The Immortals by Alyson Noel where they need to drink the 'red juice' that was made from experimenting ingredients. This book, Origins, was about Immortals and Adelin can choose whether or not she'll be one of the Immortals OR remain human.

1. Hi Jessa! Thank you so much for joining us here in Lexie Reads. Your debut novel, Origins (which I totally love!) is going to be released soon. Can you tell us about it?

Origins is the first book in a 3 part series of YA Paranormal Romance books. The story is told in a few different point-of-views but the main character is Adelin, a 19 year old who is faced with the difficult decision of choosing between her mother, who she thought was dead, or her father, who has raised her since birth; between Immortality or her humanity..

Book Review: Fallen From Grace by Laura Leone

Author: Laura Leone (Also known as Laura Resnick)
Genre: Adult Fiction, Contemporary Romance, Erotic Romance, Abuse
Released Date: 2003 (Kindle Edition)
Rating:
Book Blurb from Goodreads:
When Ryan meets Sara, his new next-door neighbor in a rickety old San Francisco apartment building, both are in a state of emotional turmoil. Ryan, a high-priced prostitute, is trying to break free of his old life, but his handler, Catherine, won't let him.
Sara's medieval mystery series has just been terminated by her publisher, and she is now trying to write a historical thriller. Sara doesn't dare make the first move toward deepening their relationship because she is older than Ryan, not as physically attractive, and halfway convinced he is gay and that if she pushes him she will lose his friendship, which she values.
In this realistically gritty, sometimes violent, and gripping tale, Leone reveals the seamier side of society's maneuvering while she spins an unconventional romance between two unhappy people who find that love, like respect, can grow out of friendship and shared experiences and that new beginnings are indeed possible for those with the determination and courage to pursue them.
Um... A friend asked me to read this book with her, so I said yes and read it. I didn't even know it was Adult Fiction, found it later after reading the first pages of Prologue, I just WOW.

Q: Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually don’t like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the first place.

Um, I usually read books that have good covers. Yes, I'm a sucker for good covers. And when I like the summary too, then I'll read it. And of course, I read books that are recommended to me. I have been reading Fallen From Grace by Laura Leone. I am not yet finished but I'm halfway done. I picked it up because a friend of mine wants someone to read it with. This book is totally not my genre since I mostly read Young Adult books. And well, this is an Adult Fiction, yes, Erotica too. So I started reading it yesterday night and boy, I'm starting to love it! Uh, no, I love it!

Have you bibliophiles read it? I'm excited to know your answers! Follow me so I could follow you back. :)

Book Blurb from Goodreads:
The second thrilling installment in Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy spinoff series
Tough, brainy alchemist Sydney Sage and doe-eyed Moroi princess Jill Dragomir are in hiding at a human boarding school in the sunny, glamorous world of Palm Springs, California. The students--children of the wealthy and powerful--carry on with their lives in blissful ignorance, while Sydney, Jill, Eddie, and Adrian must do everything in their power to keep their secret safe. But with forbidden romances, unexpected spirit bonds, and the threat of Strigoi moving ever closer, hiding the truth is harder than anyone thought.
Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Richelle Mead's breathtaking Bloodlines series explores all the friendship, romance, battles, and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive. In this second book, the drama is hotter, the romances are steamier, and the stakes are even higher.

TBR Pile: Fated (Soul Seekers #1) by Alyson Noel

Title: Fated (Soul Seekers #1)
Author: Alyson Noel
RD: May 22nd, 2012
Book Blurb from Goodreads:
The first book in a magnificent new series about a girl who can navigate between the worlds of the living and the dead by #1 New York Times bestselling author Alyson Noël.

Lately strange things have been happening to Daire Santos. Animals follow her, crows mock her, and glowing people appear out of nowhere. Worried that Daire is having a nervous breakdown, her mother packs her off to stay in the dusty plains of Enchantment, New Mexico with a grandmother she’s never met.

There she crosses paths with Dace, a gorgeous guy with unearthly blue eyes who she’s encountered before...but only in her dreams. And she’ll get to know her grandmother—a woman who recognizes Daire’s bizarre episodes for what they are. A call to her true destiny as a Soul Seeker, one who can navigate between the worlds of the living and the dead. Her grandmother immediately begins teaching her to harness her powers—but it’s an art that must be mastered quickly. Because Dace’s brother is an evil shape-shifter who’s out to steal her powers. Now Daire must embrace her fate as a Soul Seeker and find out if Dace is one guy she’s meant to be with...or if he’s allied with the enemy she’s destined to destroy.

I haven't read this one yet. I'm about to in a few days. Hopefully. I'm still contemplating if I should go to Fated Tour Philippines on July 20, 2012. The author Alyson Noel would be coming down here in my country. I don't know if I could go, I'm hoping I could. I might force my boyfriend to go with me or my cousin who's a book loving person too.

I have this in my GR TBR pile. My pile that keeps on growing everyday. But since I saw the book trailer for this one, I decided to up it. I really hope that she's not the same as Ever in The Immortals Series. Please don't be like her, Daire.

I started reading this book, I think it was June 20, 2012 and I finished it today. Two weeks of me reading it. Why did it took me two weeks? One, I was bored in the first few chapters of this book. I'm not gonna pretend or lie about it. I was bored BUT there's something in my mind that says I need to finish it. A friend of mine actually said to me that if I didn't like it, no need to punish myself over it. But still I decided to continue even if it's taking my precious time.

It was actually supposed to be released this month but I guess the author Ms. Gilbert decided to release it on August. I saw the first cover of this book in her blog and it's not this one. I must say, this new cover is so cool and great! I love the font she used for the title.

Btw, the author Jessa L. Gilbert is looking for Beta readers, if you are interested to read her book and review it, you can contact her through her blog site. I am participating too and will soon do an interview with the author. Stay tuned, lovelies!

Movie Review: The Amazing Spiderman (2012)

Official site: The Amazing Spider-Man
Official Trailer:

Soooo... Spiderman. The Amazing Spider-Man. I just watched it today, July 1, 2012 with my boyfriend. We are ahead of USA 'cause it will be shown in there on July 3. And the movie was shown here in the Philippines last June 29, 2012. :)

Um, so... I love this movie. There are NO BORING MOMENTS, IMO. I laughed at the comedy scenes. We all laughed at it. Personally, I got teary-eyed when Uncle Ben died (This is not a spoiler since we all know that Uncle Ben is dead in the past Spider-Man), it's just sad to see Peter. Cause I think he blames himself for the death of Uncle Ben.

"You know, touching myself."
"What? You gonna tell me you're touching yourself?"
"No, of course not. I can't tell you that."

LOL! I laughed at that one. :P Okay, I'm getting side-tracked. I really don't know how to make a Movie Review. I'm not really a movie critic so I just go to what I like about it. Did I already said that I love the movie? NO? I ABSOFREAKINLUTELY LOVE THE MOVIE!

It is definitely worth your TIME and MONEY. And the title says it all. AMAZING!!! I would definitely go see it again if I have enough money. :) GO and WATCH THE MOVIE!! IT will make you laugh, get teary-eyed, it will shock you at some scenes. I almost jumped out of my seat when something came out unexpectedly. :P

So, go and watch it! Don't go downloading the movie from torrent, you should watch it first in the big screen then download the movie. ;)

Btw, the story is like Spider-Man meets Godzilla. :D
