Review: Love REVISITED

Love REVISITED Love REVISITED by Jannat Bhat
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Okaaaay. The plot is surprisingly good. It's why I gave this a 3 stars even though I didn't like how some of it was grammatically incorrect. I mean, this was released way back 2017, right? But the copy I had was like it wasn't edited right. There's this scene where she's reading newspapers and I didn't understand one bit of it cause it was cut off. I'm not sure if that is intentional but yeah, I skipped that part cause I barely understand it or maybe it's because it's like that I didn't bother reading that part. *shrugs*

I didn't like how I keep on thinking that the characters are just a bunch of hormonal teenagers. They just gave off this vibe that they are teens when in actuality they are all 22 to 23 years old. You'd think they'll be a bit mature then but nope. So while that is that, I also keep picturing the adults (parents and Nathan) all under the age of 40. Especially Nathan. He's supposed to be somewhere 40 right? And so dad is supposed to be like maybe 60? BUT... No, they didn't seem to be in that age. IDK why I thought they are all so young. LOL.

ALSO! She already graduated from college (but yes keep thinking it's high school) and supposed to be 23 year old. But she was acting like a teen when her mom says they'd have to move to Beacon Hill. I'm Asian and at that age I lived with my parents, still. But this was weird. Like why are you going if you don't really want to? You're supposed to be an adult now. I do understand it was just the two of them but kind of weird that she'd think like that.

The good part was that it's actually entertaining enough for me to read all of this. It was fun if you ignore the grammar part which I know might be hard if you had a copy like mine. lol. The friends are fun too. Alex's dreamy. Yep. Same as my name. LOL.

It was worth the read, though. But yes, maybe the copy from Amazon is good. IDK. If it is, read it. It was a good read anyway.

Review: Nine

Nine Nine by Zach Hines
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ARC provided by the publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

It was weirdly great. Lol. It is definitely a new concept for me. It delivered, imo. The world building is great, the writing good. The story line, yep.

It just a bit descriptive in some parts but some parts are NOT that descriptive if you get my drift. I still have questions. Like, where did the bodies comes from? Like did they get it manufactured or something? I'm morbidly curious about the science of it. Lol. They just said they emerged from the Lake. So, are the new bodies kept there?? How does that work?? I need that kind of answers, dammit. Lmao.

Question regarding the story were answered. But of course some new ones came up too.

I can say that this book is really good albeit a bit weird. Worth my time to read!

Review: Heart of Thorns

Heart of Thorns Heart of Thorns by Bree Barton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

ARC provided by the publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

Sooooooo.... I really liked the story and the world building of this book. BUT, I was TOLDthat she's a huntress. She hunt the Gwyrach cause of her mother's death. This is an issue I had all throughout the book. I was under the impression she had great knives skills, great combat skills too as you know, she trained to be a hunter of demons. So I was a bit disappointed that there was NONE of it in the book. I mean, okay, so you threw a knife at some tree, that's it though. So yes, I'm the type of reader who loves her action scenes and dammit I didn't get much.

Mia is not a damsel-in-distress though. That's what I think. She knew her way around. She is really a smart woman and for once, Barton SHOWED that Mia IS smart. The world is intricately woven, if I daresay. My other problem is that there's too much descriptions. I mean, I'm all for descriptions but I don't need THAT much. LOL. So I skipped some and just read the conversations because those are really great.

Quin. I liked that he's really something else. And that he's you know (view spoiler).

The above reasons are why I didn't gave it five stars. I just kept expecting that there will be a LOT of actions but I do liked that even though there are not much action, the world building is great. I loved the concept, the dialogues, the history of magic and all that.

I was sad that it ended up cliffy though. LOL. Because I really want to know what happened next. But this is an arc. A soon-to-be published book. I might have to wait for a year or something for the next. :(

Definitely worth my time to read. I just wished that on the next book, there'll be more action scene. Show those 'hunter' skills you have told us reader. Because this is why we love Fantasy books. THEY TELL YOU THINGS AND THEN SHOW YOU. Less description on unnecessary things and more about the characters.

Folsom is book one of the End of Men series.
REVIEW

This book is not the typical Tarryn Fisher book. I haven't read Willow Aster's books yet but I plan to.

Imagine my surprise that Tarryn wrote a dystopian book. I love dystopian books and this is my first in the Adult genre. I usually read YA Dystopia. Anyway, why do good books hard to review? You can't say anything else besides "THIS IS FUCKING GOOD. GO READ THIS." Or scream yourself out how this is so good and everyone should go read it.

I've read YA books where women are used to breed children. Where men captured them, rapes them, etc. But this is the first where it's the other way around. Women wants to breed but it's their decision. Since there are only 12 men left in their country, or so they say. These men are enslaved albeit glamorously paid and all their desires are given. But still they are sex slaves, in short.

So you see, I started to pity these 12 men. They might liked it at first but nobody wants to have sex 3 times a day, almost everyday since you were 18 years old. And with different women, if I may add. Who wants that?! IT gets tiring.

What I loved about this is the rebels. Gwen. Of course we all know Gwen will be the special snowflake. I know that. But I still love her tenacity. I love that she's made like that. I got really teary eyed on a lot of parts. I stopped it as soon as it formed though because I'm at the office. But you get me, right?

I cannot imagine my child to be taken away from me. This, I know from the moment I gave birth to her, I cannot take that. So yes, I feel all the feels, a mother should feel in some parts. Gah. I wanna read the next book now. Because it does end in a cliffy.

But seriously, GO FUCKING READ THIS. IT IS FUCKING GOOD. IT HAS SEX, I KNOW YOU WANT THOSE SCENES. YES THERE ARE SOME AND DETAILED. BUT THERE IS ALSO CONTENT IN THIS BOOK. I don't read a lot of adult books for fear of too many sex scenes and less world building, but this is different. I REALLY BELIEVE THIS IS WORTH THE READ.

BTW, I devoured this book. I read it in less than 24 hours, which is saying something due to my short attention span these days. It is that intriguing, engaging and definitely an awesome read.

K. THANKS. BYE.

P.S.

Book two comes out soon! I read somewhere that Jackal's book will be released around July. But it's Tarryn. So we might or we might not get it early or in time. LMAO.

BOOK BLURB:
“Don’t have a best friend that’s a girl” — this was the advice from my older cousin. I didn’t take it. Because he followed with, “friends don’t f*ck friends. And you’ll want to f*ck her.”
It was terrible advice.
My cousin should’ve told me that being best friends with Baylee Wright — since she was twelve — would be the best and worst decision of my life.
He should have told me to protect her from what was coming.
He should have told me that when a darkness crawled towards us, there’d be no safety net.
Now I’ve signed back on to the same Vegas acrobatic show as Baylee, working together for the first time in years. And she tells me that she’s having trouble in a certain “area” of her life — because of our past.
“You can help me fix it,” she says.
And then she hands me a list.

Honda Boy was holding his helmet under an arm while he flirted with the girls surrounding him. He was blond, with a short, shaggy hairstyle that probably took a lot more effort to create than it looked like. I could tell from the way the girls around him were tittering like teenagers that he was charming; with seemingly little effort on his part, he had all of them eating out of his hand. When a break in the crowd gave me a clear view of his face, I realized another thing: He was smokin’, someone-hold-on-to-my-ovaries- before-they-explode hot.

TEASER
I gasped, shocked, and my eyes fell to his arm and the round scar I’d seen there earlier. A bullet wound. I looked at Ryan, and he surprised me even more by grinning. “That’s right, I took a bullet for you, babe.”
“You…” My voice trailed off as I tried to get a grip on the sudden swell of emotions raging inside me. Guilt, gratitude, horror…take your pick. I felt them all.
Ryan squeezed my hand. “That’s a good reason to promote a guy to boyfriend status, don’t you think?”
He was joking about this? He was shot, and he wanted to joke about our relationship? Was he for real?
“Don’t fall for it, Angel,” Johnny G teased. “It was barely a flesh wound. It didn’t even hit anything vital. I’ve been shot twice myself. It’s really not that bad.”

What readers are saying about Remember Jamie Baker

Jamie #3 was everything I had been hoping and waiting for. It brought all the feels. Jamie has the right amount of spunk, bravery and intelligence to make her an extremely likeable and relate-able heroine. I kinda want to be her BFF. And Ryan Miller ... swoon. He is everything. He made Jamie love him again and again, and he did it with me also. Every single book I have fallen in love with Ryan, and every time I reread I will love him even more. Great job, Kelly! It was a journey worth waiting for.  ~ Jaymin Eve, USA Today bestselling author of The Hive trilogy

"Full of great one-liners and intense longing, Remember Jamie Baker is a satisfying conclusion to a fantastic trilogy. Readers will appreciate the new friends Jamie makes, the measures she takes to restore her memory, and the return of Ryan Miller. OH YES. That charming combination of ego and sunshine does show up. I promise. And it's epic." ~ The Dragon’s Nook book reviews

"Kelly Oram’s back with a new Jamie Baker adventure that’s as action-packed as it is hilarious, with all new characters to love and some old favorites that you’ll find yourself falling for, all over again! Remember Jamie Baker is an unforgettable end to a truly amazing series!” ~ Jena Leigh author of the Variant series

"This is the best book of the trilogy. Remember Jamie gives us the steamiest Ryan & Jamie yet with beach fantasies (oh, Kelly went there!) and more curl-your-toes “awwww” scenes where once again pretty boy Ryan Miller steals your heart (and Jamie’s) as he tries to help her remember exactly who she was. Oh? And did I mention your favorite sidekicks (and who doesn’t love our favorite reporter and BFF?) are back? Or how about all of the kickass superhero action we’ve been dying for with Visticorp? Yea, it finally happens and it does not disappoint (be ready for some twists!)…. But the real reason you’ll keep reading? Because Jamie needs to remember! This whole series has honestly been a whirlwind and finally getting the epic conclusion we hoped for is the best gift Kelly could possibly give her readers. Fans of Meg Cabot’s quick wit and normal girl-hero complex (a la 1-800-Where-R-U), the tv show Smallville, or superhero tropes in general will dive right into this one. And who can forget fans of Ryan Miller? You will definitely need your fix." ~ Rachel E. Carter, author of the Black Mage series

REVIEW

I liked it. :o Minus the love triangle. I love the first half of the book.

It started where it left off at book one, To All The Boys I've Loved Before, which was great. Character I liked the most is... Kitty. She's so honest, outspoken. Like she'll tell you what she's thinking even if it's hurtful, just the truth. Well, there's a good side and bad side of telling the truth. She's real, every pre-teens were like that. She's manipulative and will only do whatever she wants because she'll gain something from it. LOL. I think that's very real. I do believe she's a pretty great kid. She honestly loved her Dad and sisters. I also liked she's so good with fashion and hair stuffs and that Lara Jean wasn't. :P

I loved loved loved Peter. I would say that he was real and although I would like him to be upfront with Lara Jean about his relationship with Genevieve. But I guess I can't really blame him. I honestly agree with him. It's not his story to tell.

And eh, the letter with John Ambrose McLaren (did I get it right?), I wish she mentioned Peter and you know. I think it's better off without John in the picture.

Lara Jean is... somehow like a petulant child. I get it that it's her first and all that... and there's Genevieve issue but I don't know... I think she can do better with how she handled the things that happened with her and Peter. And that thing with McLaren. :/

But I liked the book, finished it in less than 6 hours. lol. Whole shift I was reading. Thank God there's not much work. :D

(And hey, then you'll know what you have to look forward to in book three!) Here's a short excerpt:

I was trying to make her nervous on purpose. My whole intent tonight was to make her see me in a new way. What better way to do that than to crawl into bed with her in the middle of the night?
We hadn’t been in bed together since we were kids. Back when the fact that we were the opposite sex didn’t matter. It definitely mattered now. She looked so incredibly sexy at the moment that I could hardly think of anything other than the fact that I wanted to obliterate the word “friendship” from all known languages.
“What happened to the Disney Princess nightgown you wore the last time we were in bed together? That was hot.”
But not nearly as hot as the tank top and panties she was wearing right now. Damn. I hadn’t expected her to sleep so risqué. I’d genuinely been prepared for Captain America pajamas or something, considering her infatuation with Chris Evans. But this…she looked… Double damn. Even if this plan totally backfired on me tonight, right now it felt like the best idea I’d ever had.
As I took a mental picture of her, Dani finally realized she wasn’t wearing a bra and freaked out, pulling her covers up over her chest while glaring at me. If she hadn’t been awake before, she definitely was now. “You’d better have a damn good reason for being here or you’re going to be very sorry.”
She was pissed but it was worth it. I gave her a pout. “Since when do I need a reason?”
She opened her mouth to unleash a verbal tirade but I lifted a hand to stop her. I didn’t need to hear her rant. No lecture in the world was going to make me feel bad for sneaking in here and catching a semi-naughty glimpse of her. Am I shameless? Why, yes. Yes I am. It’s one of my many talents. Click here to read the entire RUSS POV Bonus Scene from Chameleon.

Or you can get started reading the series now. Chameleon, the first book in the series, is available for FREE DOWNLOAD on Amazon now through April 18th.

Chameleon (Supernaturals#1)
For small-town rebel Dani Webber magic and monsters are no more real than the Easter Bunny… until the day she accidentally stops time. Dani quickly discovers that not only do supernaturals exist, but she herself is one of them. This is great news for her life-long best friend Russ, who can finally come clean about his own supernatural status and his undying love for her. Before the two can start to enjoy the long overdue relationship, Dani is taken by a powerful council of supernaturals who believe she is the Chosen One destined to save them from extinction.
As if being kidnapped and expected to save the world isn’t bad enough, an ancient prophecy warns of the Chosen One’s dark nature: “Only the truest love will keep her an agent for good.” The council believes they know who this “true love” is and, unfortunately, that person isn’t Russ. The mysterious, powerful and devastatingly handsome Seer is the last person Dani wants in her life, but when she starts having visions of a horrific future, she has no one else to turn to for help.
Soon Dani finds herself torn between two very different boys with two very different opinions of whom she can trust. With the visions getting worse and time running out, Dani is forced to put aside her feelings and work with both the Seer and Russ before an ancient evil is unleashed upon the earth.

REVIEW

First of all, thank you to Sarah, for the copy of her book. :) Thank you for taking your time into messaging me. I do apologize it taken me this long to finish the book though. Real life does sucks. LOL.

When I read the blurb (yes, I did read it!), I was left intrigued with it. Dreams are, in my opinion, a wide subject. But what made me read it was how will the author, Sarah, write about Dreams. Specifically, Dream Travel.

When I started reading it, I was a bit shocked. Shocked because it didn't start in a conventional way. I even doubted the book that maybe it was not book 1. Why? Because it started in the middle. It was right into the plot. Normally, first chapters are all about introduction. I'm not sure if I liked how it was done. But I still read it because I wanted to know what will happen. Although, I must say it's not the type of book that I'm so eager to read that I need to read it continuously.

I have a bit of an issue with the use of exclamation point. I feel that it's a bit excessive? And redundant. But maybe that's just me.

I still have questions even after reading it. Like, do they teleport their bodies or something? I don't know how the machine works. It was explained but like it was vague. Or it's just my brain not catching up? LOL. I still stand with the explanation vague though or lots of technical terminologies (and hey, I'm a Computer Engineer graduate, so I know my technical terms.) that I am actually not familiar with it. It jumbled in my brain.

And then there's Zhuang. He was mentioned a lot. But he never appeared until the last moment. And I don't know. I didn't imagine the fight scene a lot. I'm a very imaginative person so not having it visualize is... you know. I think it can be improved a whole lot more. But it was fun, nevertheless.

I like how she stand up in the end. She owned it like she should have from the beginning. So it's good that the character developed really well. :) Still kudos to Sarah. :)
