Trapped for decades, a powerful god seeks freedom . . . and revenge. But the only thing that can save him is the passion of a woman's touch . . .

Emma Keane is your average city girl trying to get a date. There's just one thing holding her back: the disembodied male voice speaking to her through her mind. Sound kind of crazy? Maybe. But crazy turns downright deadly when the voice persuades her to travel to the wilds of the Mayan jungle. There she will free his body-his incredibly hot, muscled, naked body.
Humans are so frail, so undisciplined, so susceptible to love. And when this ancient being connects with Emma, the feelings she sparks drive him utterly mad. Protective, keep-her-close, never-let-her-go kind of mad. Which might not be such a bad thing because from the moment the beautiful, passionate Emma unshackles his body, they are hunted at every turn. Now he'll have to do everything in his power to keep her safe. But will it be enough?

Surprisingly, I quite liked this book. Why do I say that? Well, first half was fun when Guy, the male voice speaking through her mind was still there talking to Emma. You see, people (not in general, maybe bookworms like us) tend to talk to themselves. In their own mind, that is. So I could somehow relate to that. What I liked about it was that there is actually someone inside your mind that you could talk to. I know that is quite insane but hey, at least in yourself, you know you didn't create that out of your imagination because that male voice or whatever knows a lot of things in the world that you didn't even know. It's like your Discovery Channel, National Geographic, etc inside your head.
“They’re children. I’m stuck with two of the most childish humans on the face of the planet, too stupid to fear a lethal deity. Gods save me.”
When they did finally meet, I was a bit perplexed. One moment, Emma was angry with Guy then next, she was all mushy with him. I know, it was like that even before but I don't know... The attraction - sexual or not - between them is almost palpable, even I can't deny it. But how they interact with each other - now that they could see each one - is gradually becoming annoying. I get the reasons of Guy and of Emma, but I don't know. I just feel like they just had to grow up. Especially Guy, being what he is... He should have known better.
“Okay, little tree monkeys, can we get back to business? And Tommaso, any time you’d like to play the mine-is-bigger-than-yours game, let me know.”
Third part, that's the part where I really enjoyed it! I love how action it gets. I like how sassy Emma could be and how sarcastic she could be to others. I love her dialogues to some characters she mingled with. I guess, what I really like about this whole story is that, it is unique in a sense. I have never heard of Mayan stories and it's cool to know some even though it might not be really true (I honestly don't have any idea about it except Mayans said that 2012 is the end of the world). I just don't like the way Guy and Emma interacts with one another sometimes. It's a bit irritating but I managed.
Oh, jeez. I’d opened up the ego worm can. “Well, you’re damned lucky I renewed my subscription to Guy Talk before you left.”
Oh, goody. Evil confession time, I thought. I really, really am going to die. Because bad guys only spill their guts when they’re about to slit your throat. “Yes? Go on.”
Awesome story! I want to read the next soon! The romance part... Well, it definitely builds up and up and up. lol. But I am not sure, I feel like when they did it, it was a bit faded out or fast forwarded it? :D Nevertheless, I love how the story went. Will definitely read the next one.

This book looks really good! I like slow moving romances, so that doesn't bother me as long as it doesn't seem to come out of nowhere.

Then this one definitely is for you! :) It is pretty good! I enjoyed it just a bit annoyed sometimes at how they interact with each other (some of their bickering) but other than that, I really liked it. :)
